The inaugural Social Media Leadership Awards, are being organized by Knowledge@Wharton, the online business analysis journal of the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, Social Strategy1, the preeminent social media monitoring and analysis organization, and its online directory for business services, OfficeArrow.com.
This competition is unlike any other event. There are hundreds of business uses for social media, though few, other than marketing, make the headlines. It is becoming critical for businesses to understand the multiple ways social media affects their companies: their organizational and revenue structures, their business lines, their future. This completion will surface best practices in social media across several business uses, or categories – and other uses will arise through the course of the competition – that impact business in ways yet uncovered.
Social media affects every aspect of a business, large and small, but is often overlooked until a social media-driven crisis occurs. Because nearly two billion people around the globe use social media, there is palpable impact on corporate governance, compliance, product development, innovation, sustainability, HR, and much more. However, leaders aren’t sure where to turn for insights and best practices. This competition will bring many of these to light.
The site www.smlawards.com and blog, will give updates through the course of the competition, answer questions about the event and inform readers of important deadlines.
